Long-term consistency trumps short-term intensity and unlike most young artists out now, Day Pesos has been on the rise for quite some time. In 2013, he was featured on HOT 97's Who's Next and released his debut mixtape "Tunnel Vision" shortly thereafter. With features from Elle Varner and production from AraabMusik, the tape was a success and has over 16,000 plays and downloads on Audiomack.
"Ever seen your mother sell her last thing your grandma gave you just to get herself a rock"
"You n***as ain't felt that pain"
"We ain't never have a lot money"
"When AC was a cold rag, used to use it as a fan"
Pesos' ability to be completely transparent is what separates his music from other artists. Although he is just 23, Pesos is not afraid to share his life experiences through his lyrics. Honesty is consistent throughout his music and his fans know that he goes through regular everyday life experiences just like them.
Pesos is back to flooding the streets and dropped the Long Live the Doubles EP several months ago. You can also check out the visual to his new single "Live From The Cook Up," below. Pesos' music making ability coupled with his lyricism and flow allows him to stand out in NY's underground scene and we're excited to see where he goes next. Don't forget you seen it first on #TheCulturePlug.
